Welcome to Foster

The Foster Story

Stephen C. Foster Elementary School was dedicated in 1953 and served as a neighborhood school. It was named after America's First Professional Composer, Stephen C. Foster, whose works include "Oh Susanna"' "Camptown Races"' "My Old Kentucky Home" and "Old Folks at Home (Way Down Upon the Swanee River)". His last song "Beautiful Dreamer" still inspires our students today to "Dream Big." Foster Elementary expanded in 2004. The new wing added 19 classrooms, a conference room, needed office space, new technology, and our awesome Library!

Our front entrance Mosaic, designed and constructed by Foster students, with the guidance of our Art Reach partners, was dedicated in the Spring of 2016. Additionally in the Fall of 2016, Stephen C. Foster Elementary launched a Two-Way Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program which has recently transitioned into the Dual Language 2.0 Model. 

In 2022-2023, the Foster school community partnered with the Texas Trees Foundation Cool Schools program. Texas Trees Foundation’s Cool Schools program provided Foster with a brand-new playground and various park features such as a walking path, park benches, and art installations. The upgraded space is available to the community outside of school operating hours, providing thousands of residents in the neighborhood access to a park. 

The school has been supported by several other community partners that have impacted our families in a positive way. Brighter Bites provides fresh produce biweekly for our families, St. Michaels contributed with field trips, tutors, and generous donations during school events. Office Depot through the Program Start Proud School in 2022 contributed generous donations to students, teachers, and our families. Today, with the help of our many more partners and community members, we continue to proudly serve and change the lives of our Love Field area students and their families.
